Welcome to Cycle Therapy - 4 Corners Racing
Founded in 2002, Cycle Therapy - 4 Corners Racing is a USA Cycling Road Cycling Club dedicated to road cycling
fitness, road racing, and group riding skills. Numbering approximately thirty, (both men and women), we have team members that compete from Mens Cat 1/2 through to entry level Mens Cat 5 and in Masters categories, as well as Womens Cat 4. But not everyone races: a number of team members ride just for the high fitness level. We are located in southeast King
County, near Seattle, Washington.
The Saturday morning 4 Corners
ride, so named because is starts and ends at the 4 Corners Shopping Center in Maple Valley, was started in the early ‘90s by Robin Goldfoos who owned Cycles
Etc. in the 4 Corners Shopping Center. Although Cycles Etc.
closed after a few years, many of the riders kept riding from the same
location; several of our riders have been riding from 4 Corners since
the mid 1990s! Over the years the quality and intensity of the rides
has increased dramatically. Typical ride lengths and times
are 3-4 hours/55-70 miles in the winter with rides increasing to 4
hours/70-80 miles as the weather improves. Please see our Team
Ride page for additional details on the Saturday rides.
For 2009 Cycle Therapy of Kent is the primary sponsor, with Tahoma Athletic Club and Java Java Coffee, both of Maple Valley, secondary sponsors. Cycle Therapy - 4 Corners Racing has some of
the best masters riders in the Northwest, consistently placing riders
on the podium and in top ten finishes in road and stage races in
Washington and Oregon.
In addition to podium placing and
top finishes for riders, the objectives of the team are to promote road
racing, group riding skills, and to have fun. The team has riders ranging from those who are just enjoying
the introduction to racing as well as riders who have raced at a high
competitive level for a number of years.
In 2005 we successfully promoted our first race. The Ravensdale-Cumberland
Road Race was well received by both the racing and local community.
Proceeds were used to
support charitable, non-profit organizations in the Maple Valley area.
The current team
co-leaders
are Peter Fraiman and Michael Kopp. Peter is a Category 2/Masters road
rider and founder of VisionTech, one of the early pioneering companies in the aero bar market for time trialing and
triathlons. VisionTech aero bars were used by
Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France, as well as by other professional road racers and
triathletes. VisionTech was later sold to Full Speed Ahead which now sells numerous aero products under the Vision label. Michael is a Category 3/Masters
road rider and has been riding since the days of Eddy Merckx---but with
far less success then the Cannibal!
